McDowell Democrats Host Successful "Jingle Mingle" Christmas Party, Showcasing Democratic Candidates for 2024 Ballot

McDowell County, NC - December 19, 2023 - The McDowell Democratic Party hosted their annual "Jingle Mingle" Christmas Party on December 18th, creating a festive atmosphere filled with camaraderie and political engagement. The event showcased Democratic candidates who will be running for positions on the ballot in 2024. A delectable meal was provided by various party members, fostering a true sense of unity among attendees.

As the night progressed, guests engaged in challenging games that put their political knowledge to the test. Moreover, the event served as an excellent platform to introduce the Democratic candidates who will be vying for positions on the ballot in 2024.

Among the candidates present were Caleb Rudow, John Ager, and Teri Stahara.

Caleb Rudow currently serves in the NC House. He seeks to become the congressional representative for NC-11 House District and will face Republican Chuck Edwards in the general election next November. He highlighted his commitment to working families, advocating for policies such as raising the minimum wage, reinstating the Child Tax Credit, protecting Social Security and Medicare for seniors, tax reforms, and increased funding for public education.

John Ager, a fourth-generation farmer from Fairview, shared his years of experience as a legislator in the NC House and his decision to come out of retirement to run for NC Senate District 46 Representative. Ager aims to make farming profitable again by supporting legislation that promotes carbon capture technology, benefiting small farms and contributing to environmental sustainability. Ager will go up against Warren Daniel in the general election next November.

Teri Stahara, the sole Democratic candidate for McDowell County Commissioner in the upcoming November 2024 elections, outlined her vision for the county. Stahara emphasized cost-saving renewable energy practices, increasing teacher pay, promoting affordable housing, and advocating for lowering the pre-K starting age to three years old.

Undoubtedly, the highlight of the event was the overwhelming generosity displayed by attendees. Donations poured in for a local women's shelter, comprising practical personal items, toys, and monetary contributions. The McDowell Democratic Party extends its deepest gratitude to all those who contributed, as their donations will make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need.
